Prussian correctness and Berlinesque wit
The painter Franz Krüger. 1797–1857
Like no other before him, Franz Krüger was a master in depicting the Berlin society of his time. The Berlin painter Franz Krüger, one of the important German artists of the 19th century, known as „Pferde-Krüger“ (horse-Krüger), remains popular to this day.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his death, a comprehensive exhibition will present his work to the general public for the first time in the capital city since 1881.
The National Gallery, the Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) and Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg have combined their rich inventories to make this exhibition possible. The exhibition also includes further works on loan from German and European collections.
